The Media Lab India Initiative is an outreach program by students and alumni from the MIT Media Labto bring together a community of makers and creatorsacross India, and to facilitate collaboration and sharing of ideas across boundaries of disciplines, institutions and culture. The goal is to create an environment much like at the MIT Media Lab, an environment that fosters creative exploration of ideas. The event was hosted at the sprawling campus of PDPU (Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University).

Vibrant Gujarat Start-Up Summit

PDPU IIC organizedan insightful panel discussion in Tesseract 2016which invited people from industry as well as academia. The esteemed panelists comprised of experienced mentors and industrialists such asMr. Anay Mashruwala, Mr. Jatin Kataria, Mr. Ruchit Surati, Mr. Pankaj Bhimani, Mr. Raahil Rupawala and Mr. Kunal Sheth. The discussion entailed about how each of the panelists started theirentrepreneurial journey, thechallenges faced by themand how they collectively could impact the startup ecosystem. Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017

Startup Weekend is a54-hour weekend event, which ispowered by Google. During this event, groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more- pitch ideas for new startup companies,form teamsaround those ideas, andwork to develop a working prototype, demo, or presentationand thenpitch it in front of the Investors. Prominent mentors came in the workshop, guided the teams and helped them evolve their ideas. Out of15 extraordinary ideas, judges declared winners after due deliberation and assessment over criteria such as customer validation, execution & design and business model. The workshop was organized in the PDPU IIC office.

Techstars Startup Weekend Gandhinagar

Team PDPU IIC visited the renowned Sheth C.N. Vidyalaya, Ahmedabad on 28th March 2017 with an aimto harness the student's creativity and transform them into prospective business models. Many studentspitched out of the box ideasfrom whichtop three projects were awarded with the token of appreciation. The aim of this visit was to inculcate a spirit of innovation and nurture entrepreneurship amongst the students.

This workshop entailed deliberations about Situational Leadership and its pros and cons. It providedan insight about balancing leadership qualitiesin terms ofpersonality, decisiveness, knowledge and role power. The participants also learned about the concept of teamwork and how a team is different from a group. The workshop was attended by92 participantsand was held at PDPU IIC office.

Workshop on Leadership and Teamwork by Dr. Sapan Shah

To create a societal impact and extend the benefits of innovation and entrepreneurship,an event under corporate social responsibility of ONGC was organized in collaboration with Torch-it, as proposed by PDPU IIC. The event addressed and delivered solutions to the major problems faced by thevisually impairedindividuals bydistributing 'Saarthi', a product developed by Torch-It to aid them. The event was quite a success withmore than 70 participantsattending the event.

During the workshop,Mr. Sandeep Patel, CEO of Let's Recycle, talked about his entrepreneurial journey, the problems he encountered and how he overcame all the problems and succeeded with support of the incubation centre. He also talked about theon-ground reality of a waste management business and the strategiesimplemented to succeed. He also discussed the financial aspects of the waste management business. The workshop was attended bymore than 30 aspiring entrepreneursand was organised at the PDPU office.

For a start-up to be investment ready, a pitch deck with a thorough knowledge of financial aspects and business plan is needed. The key part of any business plan is the market analysis and its future projections. For this, PDPU IIC had organized a training program byMr. Dipak Krishnan. The incubatees were given detailed information onhow to go about Financial Modeling, Balance Sheet, P&L Statement, Payback Period, IRR and Business Valuationfrom their business perspective. The workshop was attended bymore than 20 startup representatives.

Investors Connect Program at Sardar Patel University, Mumbai

PDPU IIC with Techstars Startup Weekend Ahmedabad chapter organized Techstars Startup Weekend Women edition.
